Is there a superstition about eating soba on New Year's Eve?
eating soba on new year's eveis very old customs since 1600yearssoba(Japanese Noodles) is eazy cutting by Chopsticks. so that old people thinking,we wish "cutting this year's bad thing. yeah we eatting soba for next year's fortune. we have too many superstitions,,,I think Japanese people love it.
Nice to have symbolism to solve problems. We just eat, over here. :-)
That is a really interesting custom. I think I will try it this year. I do NOT want any more hurricanes fidning me. :^)
Chinese New Year same -same, as my friend Charlie Danger used to say.I miss those feasts everything except the sea cucumbers and the duck feet which I know is a delicacy but an acquired taste. They had a really yummy sauce made with star anise tho.
I will celebrate the new year with my best friend - Captain Morgan. :)
