The french have no fries i dont know why they call it French fries !!
Back in the olden days, instead of potatoes, they used to make these fries out of French people. Hence the name.

I'm pretty sure they're still called french fries. They were trying to change the name to freedom fries, but failed.
And I'm pretty sure France didnt oppose it. It was because the French were opposed to the war on Iraq, the US politicians wanted the name changed to freedom fries.

Instead, the cafeterias will offer "freedom fries" and "freedom toast." It has been so decreed by Rep. Bob Ney, an Ohio Republican who chairs the committee on House administration. No word yet on whether the House similarly plans to adopt the neologisms "freedom horn," "freedom doors," "freedom kissing," and "freedom tickler."
