Thank you. He was a punk smokin' that cigar. He was 22 tops.
There are more of these photos in the early archives of Straw Houses.

Side comment.
I was just talking to my daughter this morning about her grandpa. She was three when he died so almost all her memories of him are through photos. Particularly the one I just posted above.
She declared him most handsome in his older pic.

I told her that many young women were attracted to my dad and his beard. (We ran a small touristy store).
I also told her that her grandmother noticed the flirting and wasn't bothered a bit.

She paid no mind till one day she finally said to me, "Sure, they all think he's handsome but they should try living with him!"

I think she's chasing him around heaven right now! ;-)

H: Do you mean I look like him or that he still looked the same when he was older?

Or that Heather's dad and mine do look alike?

I'm struck by the self assurance and open quality in both pics.

Jo, your story made me laugh! I know exactly what your mother lived. Having a store, it's something you have to live with... When my daughter was young, Wednesday was the day in the week my hubby was at the bookshop alone. After his death, I noticed that on Wednesday, there was a much more proportion of women coming! And I though it was kinda funny!

And yes, your father was handsome on the two pics!

Again, thanks Clo.
He was a very special, mercurial man.

We could probably swap a few more store stories. ;-)
