Henri, you don't REALLY want to see our beloved Queen, don't you?
It's not because I don't like her, you see, but more that here, we see her face on many places, though I'm not sure she's on a stamp right now, that I get a little tired of that.
You see, I don't want to do some politic, but to explain what we live here. In Québec Province, we originally came from France, mostly. When the England win the war in 1759, some French return to France, but most of the people here stayed here. We became kind of a colony, but never in our heart we became any subject of the Royalties... The history is much longer and much complicated, there was Rebellions, there was discussions and politic.
Our country may look unified, but there is big differences in it, and, for example, some english-speaking Canadians don't really understand why we still speak french here.
I don't know what english-speaking Canadians really think about Queen Elizabeth, but for me, I never really had the feeling that she was MY Queen. And I don't criticize the person, but what she represent.
tell me about royals i was born in belgium i know all about !!Not al french people go back to france or stayed they also go to the states New orleans!!
Well, I'm an American - so I've got a problem with anyone who rules by 'divine right'. I know some of my fellow Americans have gotten off track lately and actually seem to want to go back to the age of Kings and Popes, I'm not one of them.
Clo, They are on the road to some sort of Oligarchy. We've already had Bush the 1st - we are serving under Bush the 2nd now although in retrospective as bad as Bush the 1st was I'd take him back in a heartbeat if I could be guaranteed never to get the 2nd. When we helped liberate France we didn't have the local population slaughtering each other and blowing us up for years afterwards. They got things back together enough to do it themselves and politely told us to get our arrogant cowboy asses out, merci, sortir.
And that's enough politics from me anything more and I'll send you all a link to my "The World is Going to Hell" blog.

How many minutes till Bush is out of office? I didn't vote for him.
The Queen is English for God's sake she was simply - "to the manor borne".
Her life probably sucks anyway.
Who wants to be rich AND famous?
Henri: Yes, New Orleans! Hope I'll visit some day! Did you know that in the beginnings, New France was going from the actual Canada down to Louisiana?
Paul: What are your fellows want? Bush the First?
Jo: Who wants to be rich AND famous... me?... nanh
Well the link should work even if the clock doesn't.
Clo,
They are on the road to some sort of Oligarchy.

I don't think you do Clo. ;-)
I didn't vote for the first Bush or Reagan either.
