My laptop has been acting very strange lately...

Did you do a virus scan?

Yes, but the symptoms are more like a memory chip gone bad, or a loose connection inside somewhere. The damn thing's not even two years old, and it's been repaired once already.

Okd rule of thumb on NT, 2000 & XP update the video drivers.
Croaking hard drives are notorious for doing strange things also.

I've seen that message on my pc, I thought it was my teenager's fault. Oops, my bad. Good thing I didn't say anything.

Is it a Dell?

Seeing that, I would have cried first then I would have freaked out, then cry again... Then call somebody for help! (God or angel or anyone for a micacle) Then cry again...You see, I'm not very good with this stuff... :)

Paul, yes the video driver was the prime suspect, but it's up to date. Jozee, not a Dell, a Toshiba. (Three Dells in the house and they're all fine.) MP, if God had a computer it wouldn't be running Windows ;-)

Heatherpink: Just stuff from Microsoft: IE7 Beta 2 (since removed) and the most recent Windows updates ... and I re-installed SQL Server 2005 Express and Visual Web Developer 2005. I've snooped through the registry and the Task Manager processes and I'm pretty sure there's no spyware running.

The reason I ask is because it says it could be newly installed software that's the problem.

My Dell has done that a few times and is still running. I abandoned it when I got my laptop though so who knows?

My daughter won't tell me if she sees that screen again.

.net framework gave me some trouble like this.
I wish I could remember what I did to fix it, but it was back in August and too much has transpired since then.
Just a thought.
