Since that the Wal-Mart of Jonquière, in Province of Québec, closed their doors when their employes were trying to be syndicated, I boycot the Wal-Mart... :O)

Ahh Wal-Mart. The Microsoft of the retail world.

One the one hand, after Katrina they were there in New Orleans handing out bottled water and blankets (for free!) while FEMA was still trying to find Louisiana on a map.

On the other hand, they are a client of my employer's major competitor.

And there is also many more "on the other hand"...

One of the major problem in our society is that we tend to put a jugment much too fast...

But if there is still some sweatshops, it's our responsability to let the other know...

The daughter of a friend of mine helped supervise the building of a factory in China.
The only way she could get heat for the workers in the winter was by insisting that the factory machines needed it.

Oh, Paul, I had a very bad day today, and sometimes I have the impression that everybody is soooooooo bad! But this little story, that looks so simple or ordinary, is a balm on my discouraging mind. It's always good to hear that some people do care, and that they just try to do their best for others. Do tell the daughter of your friend that her action even had the effect of making somebody in Canada felt better... :O)

She quit her job after the factory was in operation, she couldn't take it anymore.
She couldn't handle fighting the problem while at the same time enabling it.
What we in the west take for granted for laws doesn't exist over there.
