new curvy building in S.F.


Well, San Francisco's North Beach area might be having trouble with landslides, but on the other side of town -- south of Market Street -- they are constructing new high-rise buildings at an explosive rate...

It's pretty but I wouldn't want to be up there in an eathquake.

Yeah, Josie -- it would probably be quite a ride... I'd kind of hate to be on the sidewalk below too... Oh, I suppose they have everything engineered to withstand all but the largest quake, but what do I know... Probably the most unsafe spots are buildings on fill over bay mud, such as the Marina District, which had really horrible damage back in 1989 -- the mud liquified and started shaking like Jello...
