Red-Light Camera at Yonge and Wellesley

Inspired by Henri, I took a walk at lunchtime and spotted a number of CCTV cameras around downtown Toronto. This one is designed to catch people who don't stop at red lights. (More on flickr)

Oh, let me tell you how much I hate those "red light cameras"... One caught me in San Francisco about a year ago and the whole thing ended up costing me $416 after I had finished for paying for traffic-school and everything else... I bet they're really money-makers for the city...
In San Francisco they've designed the cameras look like birdhouses...
A month or two I almost didn't make it across the intersection, and I came close to having another red-light camera snap me -- but a few moments later I realized that I still had paper-plates on my new car, and there would have not been able to look me up... --Had I been thinking a little quicker, I should have given-them-the-bird...

$416! Ouch, that's steep!

Here in Canada we're such a polite society that we post signs half a block away saying, "Red Light Cameras In Use".

Land of Liberty or Homeland Security. Choose one.

Sadly, the land of my birth (England) is not far behind you.
