Angel Island + sunrise

Angel Island, smack dab in the middle of San Francisco Bay, has a colorful history as the "Ellis Island of the West"...   From 1910-1940, Chinese immigrants were detained and interrogated at Angel Island Immigration Station.   U.S. officials hoped to deport as many as possible by asking obscure questions about Chinese villages and family histories that immigrants would have trouble answering correctly.   Many were returned to their homeland if the inspectors suspected even the slightest degree of mental or physical weakness...   For many, Angel Island was a heartbreaker -- but for others it was the beginning of their American adventure, which regretably often ended up in their exploitation...

Thanks for the story behind these gorgeous images. I noticed how the shapes of the islands seem very similar to the shapes of the clouds.

Have you thought of putting a book together with images + accompanying text ? You have a real intimate relationship with your surroundings and i think it is worth publicizing more formally.
