Mr Tasty, Gay or Straight
This is the straight version. Roll over for the gay version.
If you're familiar with downtown Toronto, you've probably heard of the nightclub shown in the rollover. Both of these pictures were taken near the intersection of Church and Gerrard.

That's so cool, Gary!
i have never been exactly there, gary, but the title is apt! closest i've been is buying guitar gear in the pawnshops on church st.
Perhaps if you could have gotten something of both in one picture, but then again not "The Stables" isn't very overt in it's presentation and simply getting part of the signage from "Mr. Tasty" would still only mean something to folks whu understood the clientele of the bar.
I haven't been in that particular club myself. Mostly because I'm hopelessly straight, but also because most people don't look as good in leather as they think they do :-D
There are plenty of good bars and restaurants a little further north on Church, though (and they're not too far from my office).
I've never bought guitar gear in the pawn shops, but I've sure spent enough money in Henry's!
Paul, you're right. This was an opportunistic walk-by shooting. Most people in Toronto would recognize Church Street as the "gay village" but out-of-towners might not.
If I had my wide-angle with me, I'd try to frame Mr Tasty with the cowboy-themed mural (think Brokeback Mountain meets beer ad) painted on the other side of The Stables. In fact, now that I think about it, I should go back there some day and get that shot...
What CSB's going to be saying tomorrow, "In fact, now that I think about it, I should go back there some day and get that shot..."
I've been to the barn (before it shut down) It wasn't really a leather bar... different nights, different crowds. I find it interesting that someone would use the village as a photo topic, to some people it's home :)
mark anthony: Photo topic ... home ... what's the difference? Toronto is full of colourful, vibrant and photogenic neighbourhoods -- I've lived in and photographed a number of them over the last 20 years. That diversity is what makes our city so interesting.
