Tell me,
I've lost half a dozen 90 yr old trees in the last two years to the monsters.
That tree you have the wire around in the pic, it's as good as gone too.
They didn't touch the smaller ones - oh no they went sraight to the oldest biggest trees on the property bypassing 10, 20, 30, 50, and 60+ year old trees to the oldest.

Hey! Don't talk like that about our national emblem! ...joking!

Hey, Goldo, j'aime bien ta photo, mais je ne vois aucun castor ici, sauf s'il était en train de gruger le tronc d'arbre alors que tu faisais un longue exposition. Et puis, des castors en Belgique? Impossible!

Jo,
These pscycos didn't even touch the saplings they went for the oldest growth about as far away from the lake and stream as they could go.
I'd hate them for it, but it's part of what they do.
It's not like they were responsible for following an ordinance.

Here in Toronto I've seen countless saplings gnawed off, just above the wire mesh. Almost as if they use it as a ladder.

They also started a dam in Humber Bay Park, on the shore of Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario! Now that's ambitious! It's 50km wide here.

Thats about 500 football fields in American units ;-)

Guess there's good reason for the expression busy as a beaver! Can't imagine why they'd go so far in to dine on old wood though. That's crazy.

Marking territory?

When I lived further out in the country we had a small stream next to the house with a beaver lodge and dam on it.

Amazing creatures to watch.

They are quite a bother in the wrong place tho. Particularly a water supply source.

Perhaps that's a lodge not a dam on Lake Ontario, Gary. 500 football fields, wow I have to make it a point to visit the Great Lakes!

Yes, we also have beavers in Belgium a stupid ecological initiative of reintegration ... :o(

Fortunately, they do not eat french fries ... :o)
