5-minute drive

5-minute drive, originally uploaded by garyjwood.

My Life, Lately (update): I've been programming a lot lately, not much time left over for artistic pursuits...

The blue polygon approximates a 5-minute drive around my office. We gather census and survey data from the area in the polygon to answer the questions, who are your customers, how can you reach them, and what kind of messages will appeal to them?

What kind of clients?

Our clients are pretty much any direct-to-consumer business or service in Canada: retail, energy, financial services, telco/cable/ISP, health care (public and private sector), government services, and not-for-profit charities and arts organizations.

Some of these are long-term relationships, others hire us for individual projects. What they have in common is that they can benefit from the combination of geographic and demographic analyses.

We also do some work in the US, primarily with site location models.

It's really out of date, but an upgrade is coming within the next month.

Disclaimer: I am both an employee and an investor in Environics Analytics. As such, I have a vested interest in the company's success. You'll find my name about 1/3 of the way down the "About Us" page.
