down and out in S.F.

Well, yesterday I wandered around downtown San Fransisco for a while, and managed to give away all five of my dollar bills and a handful of change.   I had a great chat with everyone I met -- and only as an after-thought did I ask if they minded me taking a picture.   They all said yes, and were quite enthusiastic about having their pictures snapped.   There is something honest and real about the homeless that I think puts the rest of us to shame...

living rough, as the Brits say.

no easy feat to live such a difficult life only to be shunned and ignored for the most part. you did a noble deed documenting them. great work,Don.

Admiration in all of your shots as always but with this series in particular. Your right, there is something rare found in most... I think the normal everyday "Joe" (No pun intended jo) :o) they don't stop to even acknowledge they are there they walk by as if they are invisible all most going out of the way to do so...but, when people such as yourself take even the briefest moment, they open up because this rarity is usually welcome. Hence, it's normal human nature to want some type of contact , of attention. Bless you, karma is good, it will come back to you :)
